Global Warming

Is it real or not?

As we know from history, the Earth has experienced many ice ages and its average temperature is never constant. Some times it experiences fevers and sometimes colds. However, in the late 20th century and in the beginning of the 21st century, the Earth has been experiencing quite a number of natural disasters. According to the EM-DAT, the total natural disasters reported each year has been steadily increasing in recent decades, from 78 in 1970 to 348 in 2004. So has Mother Nature has changed or is it we? The answer is we. The reason why the death rates in the world have been increasing is the increase of the number of natural disasters and the increase of the intensity of the natural disasters. Natural disasters like hurricanes are powered by heat energy and this comes from the ups and downs of the Earth’s temperature. But wait a minute, isn’t it normal for the temperature of the Earth to fluctuate???

Global Warming – A point of almost no return

Yes, it is normal for the Earth’s temperature to fluctuate however, after the Industrial Revolution, the Earth’s temperature has been constantly rising along with carbon emissions. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

Notice the constant increase of temperature and carbon emissions

So from this we can conclude that global warming is a dangerous fever that Mother Earth is experiencing and if we don’t cure it soon, we may end up in a point of no return. Scientifically speaking, global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s near-surface air and oceans since the mid-twentieth century and its projected continuation.

Causes of Global Warming

The main cause of global warming is CO2. And where does it come from?? Our cars, production of electricity in power plants, combustion of substances and etc. So WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR GLOBAL WARMING BECAUSE WE EMIT THE MOST CO2 INTO THE ATMOSPHERE COMPARED TO OTHER SPECIES !!!!! So what can we do? Don’t we need cars and motorcycles to transport ourselves from one place to another ?

Solutions to Global Warming

Even if we stop all the emissions of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, the Earth’s temperature will definetly increase by one fahrenheit because of the damage done in the past. However, it is better late than never and we should take the steps needed to end global warming as soon as possible.

Cutting Electricity Bills

Since the production of electricity produces carbon dioxide, reducing the usage of electricity can reduce global warming.  Using fans instead of air conditioners can save you $665 in a year. Just washing your laundry in cold water rather than warm water saves you $167. Replace normal light bulbs with energy-saving bulbs. Drying your clothes on a laundry rack instead of a dryer can save you $96.  When you don’t use your PC turn it off or put it on sleep mode.
